I carry £2,000,000 of public liability insurance. On completion of your sweep, you will receive a Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps sweeping certificate.

The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps is a UK professional trade association dedicated to promoting the highest standards of training and workmanship in chimney sweeping.

Sweeping removes soot and deposits from the flue. Clear Fire uses traditional brush-and-rod or rotary methods, depending on the chimney and appliance.

Tell me what you burn, the type of fireplace or stove and when it was last swept. If you have noticed a problem, describe it when booking so we can discuss whether a CCTV inspection may also be useful.

Before the appointment

• Leave the fire or stove cold and unlit.
• Before I arrive, remove any unburnt fuel from the fireplace or stove and empty the ash pan once everything has cooled completely.
• Clear ornaments, fuel baskets and furniture from the immediate fireplace area.
• Provide access to the appliance and space to work.
• Let me know about access restrictions or known chimney problems.

Sweeping frequency depends on fuel, use, the appliance and the condition of the flue. Ask about a suitable schedule for your home when arranging a visit.
